RUNE MIELDS | Göttinnen

Opening 21 September: In her series of works entitled ‘Hymn to the Black Goddess’, Rune Mields explores the historically established role of women as givers of life, bearers of children, often referred to as Mother Earth, which in many cultures contrasts with the dark side of femininity. Rune Mields has researched this across all continents and made it tangible in almost archetypal figures. The black goddess becomes a projection of transience in the cycle of becoming and passing away.

Rune Mields (born in 1935 in Münster) has been working on a wide-ranging body of work for over 60 years. In it, she deals with the interrelationships between numbers and symbols and, fundamentally, with the ambivalence between order and chaos, logic and contradiction.

The exhibition opens on 21 September, 2–6 p.m.
