REGINE SCHUMANN | Jumps in Time @ Galerie Judith Andreae

For more than 30 years, Regine Schumann has dedicated herself as a visual artist to the themes of light, color and form using the special material of fluorescent acrylic glass. The current exhibition JUMPS IN TIME in the rooms of the Judith Andreae Gallery shows significant leaps in the artist's development, provides insight into thought processes, influences and changes and their direct or subtle implementation in her art.

Color-intensive, flowing bodies and sometimes room-spanning installations made of acrylic glass envelop the room, taking it over in color and lending its architecture a new temperature. Color and light, composition and intensity are central factors that characterize the artist's works. In the tradition of constructive-concrete art, Regine Schumann has developed her own geometric formal language, which is articulated in space and enters into a changing dialog with light and color.

Opening October 24, 6-9 pm, Exhibition duration: 25.10.2024 - 18.01.2024

REGINE SCHUMANN | GROUP SHOW 'MOUVEMENT ET LUMIÈRE, FONDATION VILLA DATRIS

In the large group exhibition 'Mouvement et Lumière' in homage to Jesús Rafael Soto, the Fondation Villa Datris presents 'Mouvement et Lumière', a hypnotic and luminous group exhibition with a selection of works of kinetic art from the original movement of the 1950s, while opening up to new generations of artists. Further focus is on the use of light - natural or artificial - in the creation of the 81 works on display, designed by 60 French and international, young and established artists. Next to artists such as Alexander Calder, Olafur Eliasson, Jeppe Hein, Carsten Höller, Jenny Holzer and François Morellet, works by REGINE SCHUMANN will be on display.

Regine Schumann | INNERLIGHT, PZSB, Mieres, Spain 2023

Reflections of light and colour fill the large Pozu Santa Bárbara (PZSB) hall, which in its previous life formed part of a mine. Using fluorescent three-dimensional objects, the site-specific exhibition “innerlight” by German artist Regine Schumann explores Schumann’s personal connection to mining, as well as the work’s socio-cultural and historical context. Schumann’s family on her father’s side came from a mining family in Goslar, and her father, who died at an early age, worked in an ore mine there. In this exhibition, Schumann consciously focuses on her own biography and establishes a personal connection to this place and to the history of the PZSB.
