TIM BERRESHEIM | Kunstmuseum Celle

In the beginning, there is dust: flakes, fragments, scraps—gathered from the street and from memory, the familiar and the foreign, the past and the present, imprints and artifacts, projections and associations. Using this analog source material and sophisticated digital tools, Tim Berresheim creates something he himself describes as a “new image.” “Image” is a broad term here and just one of many ways in which Berresheim gives form to his multidimensional data clouds. In fact, his works are a kind of hybrid painting—or, at the very least, mutable hybrid entities.
With their radical otherness, they challenge the ways we see, think, and imagine. They reveal powerful possibilities. They play with camouflage and illusions. They ground the digital in tangible, physically experiential effects. Where does humanity remain indispensable? That is the question that has preoccupied Tim Berresheim for over two decades. The exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Celle presents the developments and processes of his creative work across six galleries.
